We Are Unbothered by El-Rufai’s Defection to SDP – APC

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed concerns over the recent defection of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), insisting that his exit will not affect the party’s strength in the state.

El-Rufai had on Monday announced his resignation from the APC, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and its failure to address key concerns he had raised.

However, in a statement released by the Kaduna APC Secretary, Yahaya Pate, the party maintained that it remains focused on delivering electoral victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in 2027.

“We are unperturbed by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s defection to another party. Our focus in Kaduna is on how to deliver the state to both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani come 2027,” Pate stated.

The development comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the next general elections, with opposition parties working to form a coalition against the ruling APC.
