A group of protesters loyal to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan stormed the National Assembly complex this morning, carrying placards and chanting slogans demanding the resignation of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The Bureau Newspaper gathered that the protesters, expressing their outrage over alleged attempts to silence their senator, decried what they described as political intimidation. One of the demonstrators, who spoke on condition of anonymity, accused the opposition of orchestrating a plot to sideline Senator Natasha.

“They want to silence our senator, but we won’t allow that to happen,” he told The Bureau Newspaper.

The protest comes just hours after a court ruling halted the planned suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions. The interim order issued by the court effectively restrained the committee from proceeding with disciplinary actions against her.

Tensions remain high as supporters of the Kogi Central senator continue to push back against what they perceive as an unjust political move. Meanwhile, the leadership of the National Assembly has yet to officially respond to the growing protests.
