Abuja, Nigeria – A prominent youth activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man, has called on Nigerian youths to participate in a nationwide protest against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over its alleged failure to arrest former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, for the alleged misappropriation of ₦82 billion.

Otse made this call in a post on his Instagram account earlier today, expressing frustration with the EFCC’s inability to apprehend Bello despite mounting allegations of corruption. According to Very Dark Man, the protest aims to hold the anti-graft agency accountable and demand justice for what he described as a deliberate neglect of its duties.

“The EFCC has failed to do its job by allowing Yahaya Bello to walk free despite the overwhelming evidence of corruption. It’s time for Nigerian youths to rise and take action,” Otse posted, promising that the date for the protest will be announced soon.

The Bureau Newspaper gathered that numerous Nigerian youths have shown overwhelming support for the planned protest, with many sending messages to Otse, indicating their willingness to join the movement.

This development comes after a controversial incident earlier this week in which Bello, accompanied by the newly elected Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, visited the EFCC headquarters in Abuja. Despite speculations of his imminent arrest, Bello reportedly took pictures and left the premises without being detained by the anti-corruption agency.

Following this, The Bureau Newspaper reported that EFCC officials attempted to arrest Yahaya Bello by visiting the Kogi State Governor’s Lodge, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

The planned protest against the EFCC is expected to raise significant public attention, as many Nigerians continue to express dissatisfaction with the commission’s handling of high-profile corruption cases.
