Trigger-Happy Policeman Kills Nursing Mother In Ekiti While Celebrating Colleague’s Promotion

A trigger-happy policeman has reportedly killed a nursing mother, Ifeoluwa Adekolu, in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at the Oke-Ila Police Station.

It was learnt that the victim was standing across the road opposite the station when the officer, who had reportedly arrived from another division, discharged his firearm to celebrate a colleague’s promotion.

However, the celebratory gunfire turned tragic as a stray bullet hit Mrs. Adekolu.

She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) Adewale Adeniran, confirmed the incident.
He disclosed that the officer responsible had been disarmed and taken into custody.

“The officer involved is currently detained and will undergo thorough interrogation in line with the Nigeria Police Act. This is a tragic and regrettable incident, and the Ekiti State Police Command is committed to ensuring justice is served,” AIG Adeniran stated.
