Tragic Maize Theft: Man Stabs Farmer to Death, Arrested

In Adamawa State, a 20-year-old man named Abubakar Abdu has been arrested for allegedly stabbing and killing a woman, Azumi Abubakar, after she caught him stealing maize from her store. The incident occurred in Gengle village, Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, on November 7, 2024.

According to the police, Abdu broke into Azumi’s store around 3 a.m. to steal maize, driven by hunger. When Azumi caught and identified him, calling out his name, Abdu reportedly attacked her, stabbing her fatally. The incident was reported by the victim’s husband, and the Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that Abdu will face charges of culpable homicide.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police spokesperson, assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that Abdu will be arraigned in court once completed.
