Tragic End: Ogun Woman Fatally Stabs Husband for Infidelity (Photo)

A 22-year-old woman named Iyanu Adedeji has reportedly stabbed her husband, Funsho Jimoh, resulting in his death in the Gbonogun area of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

According to information obtained by The Bureau Newspaper obtained on Sunday indicating that Iyanu and Funsho are married and have two children.

An argument reportedly occurred between the couple following Funsho’s allegations of extramarital affairs against Iyanu.

The disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical altercation, during which Iyanu allegedly stabbed Funsho in the chest.

According to the source, “During the altercation, Mrs. Iyanu inflicted a wound on her husband’s chest using a domestic knife.”

“She promptly transported him to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, where the attending physician confirmed his death.”

In a telephone conversation with our correspondent on Sunday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect had been apprehended.

Odutola stated that Iyanu had presented herself at the Divisional Police Station in the area following the incident.

The PPRO reported that the suspect stated she transported her husband to the hospital upon discovering that he was bleeding from the injury she had caused.

Odutola stated, “On December 30, 2024, at approximately 12:15 PM, one Iyann Adedeji, a 22-year-old female residing at No. 3 Ifelodun Street, Unity Estate, Gbonagun, reported to the police station with a vehicle containing the body of her husband, Azeez Funsho Jimoh, a 28-year-old male who also resided at the same address.”

“She stated that the deceased was her husband for eight years and that they had two children, one of whom has passed away.”

She indicated that the deceased had accused her of engaging in an extramarital affair, which resulted in a physical altercation between them that morning. During the altercation, the suspect reportedly caused an injury to the victim’s chest with a household knife.

The PPRO stated that the suspect reported that the doctors on duty at the hospital had declared him dead.

The individual reported that the suspect was apprehended and that a preliminary investigation has begun.

Police operatives reported that she subsequently transported him to the Federal Medical Centre in Idi Aba, where medical professionals declared him deceased.

The individual is presently in custody. Investigators arrived at the location of the incident and retrieved the knife.

“A preliminary investigation is currently in progress, and the case will shortly be transferred to the SCID for a comprehensive examination,” Odutola stated.

She determined that, following the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, advised couples to refrain from engaging in heated arguments and to pursue peaceful methods for resolving conflicts in their relationships.
