Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has returned to Abuja, the nation’s capital, after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Ghana’s 32nd democratically elected President, John Dramani Mahama.
The President’s aircraft arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Tuesday evening at 9:30 pm, where he was welcomed by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and other senior security officials.
President Tinubu attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Dramani Mahama in Accra as a special guest of honour. He praised the state of democracy in Africa, noting that the successful democratic transitions in Ghana and other African nations have addressed concerns regarding the continent’s democratic capabilities and productive efforts.
The Nigerian Leader underscored the significance of cooperation among ECOWAS member states.
He also promoted a collaborative strategy to address urgent issues such as poverty, youth unemployment, instability, insurgency, and other obstacles impeding the region’s advancement.
President Tinubu departed Abuja for Lagos on December 18th, where he spent his Christmas and New Year holidays.
The President, during his visit to Lagos, engaged with the leadership of the National Assembly and former principal officers, headed by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
During the meeting, President Tinubu reiterated his commitment to guiding Nigeria towards a successful future.
He underscored that the welfare of Nigerians is paramount to his administration’s initiatives.
The Nigerian Leader, at his Lagos residence, hosted members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), urging the governors to prioritize the development of local councils.
During the meeting, the Governors of the 36 states reaffirmed their dedication to collaborate under President Tinubu’s leadership and to partner with his administration in promoting the nation’s development.
President Tinubu hosted His Royal Majesty, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba II.
The president, at his Ikoyi residence with the Awujale, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing collaborations with traditional leaders.
He commended the significant contribution of traditional institutions in promoting national unity, economic growth, and governance across different levels.
