“President Tinubu has mandated the return of Nigerian history as a subject in basic education,” Alausa said Tuesday during Channels Television’s End-of-Year Special Review Show.
Tunji Alausa, the Minister of school, has attested to the fact that President Bola Tinubu gave the order to reinstate Nigerian history as a basic school topic.
During the End-of-Year Special Review Show on Channels Television on Tuesday, Alausa said,
“Nigerian history must once again be taught in basic education, per President Tinubu’s directive.”
Following its abolition 13 years ago, the Nigerian government declared the official reinstatement of history as a topic in the nation’s basic education curriculum, according to a previous article by SaharaReporters.
The government of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua eliminated history from Nigeria’s basic education curriculum in 2009, citing students’ avoidance of the subject due to a lack of history professors and a lack of jobs for history graduates.
