Thug Violence Halts Edo APC Election Collation

Numerous alleged political hooligans on Saturday caused chaos at the collation center for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Edo State.

The collation process was taking place at Lushville Hotel and Suite, in GRA, Benin City and was being broadcast live on television.

The announcement of primary election results from eight local government areas had been completed when reporters at the event were hastily advised to leave the venue.

As journalists scrambled to collect their belongings, the thugs breached the venue, overcoming the police officers stationed at the entrance.

Several members of the press, including a cameraman from NTA and a reporter from FRCN, were roughed up, and their equipment was damaged.

Despite the presence of the State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adeboye, along with party officials at the center, the attackers engaged in a violent confrontation.

At the moment of reporting, the exact details of the incident and the outcome of the ensuing chaos remained uncertain.
