According to reports, bandits stormed a market in Madaka hamlet, Rafi LGA, Niger State, killing an unknown number of people.
According to the locals, the attackers broke into the market on Thursday at 3 p.m., when it was busiest, and then began shooting intermittently at shoppers.
Although there were still many unanswered questions regarding the incident, one of the people who talked in confidence stated that the exact number of casualties was still unknown.
According to the villagers, the attack happened two days after bandits killed the district chief and four other individuals in Pangu Gari.
Brig Gen. Bello Abdullahi Mohammed (rtd), the Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security, verified the attack.
He stated that the state administration was collaborating with security authorities to put an end to the ongoing attacks on farming villages in the state, even though he did not provide specifics of the incident.
