Terrorists Kill Gov’s Aide, Wife During Night Raid, Abduct Others

Kankia, Katsina State – Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked the residence of Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza, an aide to the Katsina State Governor, in Gyaza, Kankia Local Government Area (LGA). The attack, which took place on Friday night, resulted in the deaths of Gyaza and his wife. The assailants also abducted his other wife during the raid.

Gyaza was a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) for Kankia LGA. When contacted, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, said, “I will get back to you,” leaving the situation unresolved at this time.

Kidnapping of Medical Students in Benue State

In a related incident, over 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, were kidnapped in Benue State while en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu. The students, from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were ambushed by gunmen around 5:30 pm in the Otukpo area of Benue State.

One of the kidnapped victims has been identified as Dr. Louis, a House Officer. The kidnappers have reportedly demanded a ransom of N50 million for their release, raising serious concerns for their safety.
