Terrorists Attack NSCDC Headquarters in Lafia

Date: June 16, 2024
Location: Lafia, Nasarawa State, Nigeria

In a daring early morning raid, an unspecified number of bandits attacked the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State. The incident, which occurred amid sporadic gunfire, was swiftly countered by NSCDC operatives who engaged the assailants in a gun duel.

The attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, targeted the Command’s headquarters with the apparent aim of freeing high-profile suspected criminals detained there. According to NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Jerry Victor, the bandits attempted to breach the facility by breaking parts of the fence and taking strategic positions around the building.

“The operatives of the NSCDC swiftly responded by opening fire on the hoodlums whose mission was to release some high-profile suspected criminals, including informants of kidnappers in the custody of the Command,” Victor stated.

The NSCDC operatives’ prompt and effective response thwarted the attack, and no casualties were reported during the confrontation. The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region and the vigilance of security forces in repelling such threats.
