Terrorists Ambush Dangote Staff Bus In Kogi, Kidnap Dozens In Bloody Assault

In a troubling incident at Okpella in Edo, close to the boundary with Kogi state, gunmen ambushed a group of Dangote Cement workers, abducting an unspecified number and shooting several. The attack occurred on Monday evening as the employees were leaving their workplace. The severity of the injuries and the exact number of workers wounded remain uncertain, as some victims were taken to the bush by the attackers.

A distressed witness described the scene, stating, “My colleague has bullet wounds. A coaster bus filled with staff was attacked at Okpella. Kidnappers,” and added, “They kidnapped our whole staff bus. Kidnappers took our staff.”

Michael Odofin, a spokesperson for Okpella Cement Plc, confirmed the unfortunate event, noting that while there were no fatalities reported immediately, the full details of the attack were still emerging. “I cannot give any details right now. The attack is still fresh. We have no one killed,” Mr. Odofin said.

The authorities are presumably in action to address this security incident and support the victims, though further updates on the response are awaited.
