Awka, Anambra State – Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has emerged unopposed as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) gubernatorial candidate ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.

The Bureau Newspaper gathered that the incumbent governor was overwhelmingly nominated through a unanimous voice vote by 3,168 out of 3,175 accredited delegates, representing the 326 wards across the state. Only four votes were declared invalid in the peaceful and transparent exercise, which drew participation from delegates across all 21 local government areas.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo expressed heartfelt gratitude to God, the APGA leadership, and the people of Anambra State for the confidence reposed in him.

“Your support is not just inspiring; it’s a mandate to continue the transformational journey we have started,” he said, while addressing the cheering crowd at the venue of the primaries.

The Governor described the outcome of the primary as a reaffirmation of the trust Anambra people have in his administration’s vision and performance since assuming office in March 2022.

Governor Soludo also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its role in ensuring a free, fair, and credible primary election process, in line with Nigeria’s Electoral Act and democratic principles.

“INEC has shown professionalism and impartiality. This primary reflects the true spirit of democracy,” he added.

Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to pursuing sustainable development through his five-pillar development agenda, which focuses on economic transformation, infrastructure, security, education, and health.

He further announced the renomination of Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim as his running mate, noting that continuity in leadership will accelerate the progress already made in several critical areas.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Chuka Nwannah, a delegate from Awka South, hailed Soludo’s achievements, describing them as “giant strides” that have positively transformed lives and communities across the state.

“From road infrastructure to public service reforms and youth empowerment, Governor Soludo has demonstrated uncommon commitment and competence,” Nwannah noted.

The highlight of the occasion was the official presentation of the Certificate of Nomination to Governor Soludo by the APGA Primary Election Committee, marking a crucial milestone in his re-election journey.

As the November 8 election draws near, political watchers say Governor Soludo’s emergence as APGA’s flagbearer sets the stage for what may become a referendum on his performance and a defining moment for the party’s hold on Anambra State politics.
