Senators Clash Over ₦29 Trillion ‘Ways and Means’ Funds

The Nigerian Senate is embroiled in a contentious debate concerning the N29 trillion Ways and Means funds utilized by the previous administration. Reports from The Nation indicate that the federal government has taken steps to address the staggering N23 trillion debt accumulated through Ways and Means financing.

According to The Nation, discussions surrounding the allocation of these funds have been ongoing within the Senate. However, tensions escalated during the debate, with Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, asserting that the Senate had acted unlawfully by permitting funds drawn from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to be expended without proper approval from the parliament.
