Sen. Echocho Exposes Billions Stolen by Emefiele from N30Trillion Ways And Means Loans

Senator Isah Jibrin (Kogi East), the chairman of the Senate committee, claimed at the hearing that Emefiele had approved various loan tranches in the amount of billions of naira by himself without following the proper procedures.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, is scheduled to appear before the Senate, the upper house of the National Assembly, regarding 13 violations that were discovered during the application process for the N30 trillion Ways and Means loan under the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former governor was asked to clarify specific aspects of the violation, according to the Senate ad hoc committee looking into the Ways and Means loan’s distribution and usage. The committee made this revelation on Tuesday during a meeting with representatives of the top bank.

Senator Isah Jibrin (Kogi East), the chairman of the Senate committee, claimed at the hearing that Emefiele had approved various loan tranches in the amount of billions of naira by himself without following the proper procedures.

A group of CBN representatives was led by deputy governor of the apex bank Bala Bello to the National Assembly meeting.

The chairman of the committee stated, “The governors should have signed the Ways and Means account, but in the document we have here, the governor signed billions of naira in about 13 places.”

“We are interested in the entire amount of the Ways and Means. We are interested in the figure’s amount.

The committee insisted that the remaining thirty percent of the Anchors Borrowers Program be implemented, even though the bank had received praise for implementing seventy percent of it.

“You have performed well on the Anchor Borrowers Program,” he stated. You completed roughly 70%, but we still need to make sure the final 30% is completed.

“Since your governor assumed Emefiele’s position and all of his possessions, he ought to be qualified to speak for Emefiele.

“Emefiele ought to provide the current governor an explanation. The governor will be invited, and he will get in touch with Emefiele if he doesn’t hear back.

In addition, Senator Isah Jubrin, the chairman of the Ways and Means committee in the Senate, stated, “Where it is absolutely necessary, we will not hesitate to invite the former CBN governor, Emefiele.”
