See The Apartment Block Where Its 20,000 Residents Never Go Outside

Imagine existing in a world where your living complex offers everything you might need, eliminating any reason to venture outside.

To some, the thought of staying within the same walls day in and day out might seem like a nightmare… yet, it’s undeniably a convenient lifestyle, isn’t it?

This is precisely the reality for approximately 20,000 individuals in China, for whom life outside their massive residential complex, known as Regent International, situated in Qianjiang Century City within the heart of Hangzhou’s business district, is uncharted territory.

So, what makes leaving unnecessary for these residents?

Simply put, the building encompasses all conceivable amenities, negating the need for its inhabitants to seek essentials elsewhere.

Naturally, the structure can’t supply fresh air, suggesting residents might occasionally feel the urge to step outside for a breath of fresh air and a stretch.

This architectural marvel reaches a height of 675 feet and sprawls across 260,000 square meters, placing it among the most sizable edifices in China.

Though capable of accommodating up to 30,000 people, the complex currently shelters around 20,000.

You might wonder about the kind of extraordinary amenities this building offers to keep its residents content indoors… The offerings vary depending on which part of the building one resides in.

Regardless of location within the complex, residents have access to amenities akin to those found in a typical town.

These include an expansive food court, hair salons, beauty parlors, supermarkets of moderate size, swimming pools, and internet cafes.

The building has gained widespread attention on social media, particularly due to TikTok videos highlighting its amenities.

The building’s vast scale, in addition to its interior offerings, has captured the fascination of many online viewers.

A TikTok video by user @fatheristheone, featuring impressive drone footage, showcases the enormity of the structure.

Originally conceived by Alicia Loo, renowned for her lead design role at the world’s second seven-star hotel, the Singapore Sands Hotel, the building was intended to be a six-star hotel.

Today, it thrives as a residential behemoth, filled with thousands of apartments and a vibrant community of residents.

The luxurious apartments are especially favored by students, recent graduates, and young professionals.

For those curious about the cost of living in such a place, smaller units without windows are reportedly available for about 1,500 RMB a month ($210), as per local media.

On the other hand, larger apartments featuring balconies can fetch prices around 4,000 RMB a month ($570).
