Elderly Man Arrested in Kano for Alleged Ritual Plot Involving Baby’s Eyes
An elderly man, identified as Malam Yahaya from the Utoro community in Kano State, has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating a disturbing ritual involving the gouging out of a baby’s eyes.
Operatives from the Bompai Police Station apprehended Yahaya after Kabir Sani, a 25-year-old who claims to have been hypnotized, was caught attempting to carry out the bizarre request.
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, Sani recounted his chilling ordeal, stating that Yahaya gave him substances that altered his state of mind, making him follow instructions without question.
“I reside in Utoro and came to Malam because I was not feeling well. He gave me medicine and water, instructing me to use my urine for three days. When I returned, he gave me ‘Tulare’ perfume and Hantu. Immediately, my brain shut down, and I was not myself,” Sani revealed.
He further alleged that Yahaya promised him ₦1 million to find a child whose eyes would be used in preparing a charm to make a soldier “disappear.”
Sani admitted to visiting his sister’s house to find an 8-month-old child but ultimately failed to complete the task.
“I wasn’t myself. I even told my sister everything. I’m pleading with people to help me beg Malam Yahaya to return my senses to normal,” he added.
Upon raiding Yahaya’s residence, police discovered items believed to be tied to ritual practices, including a calabash with inscriptions, white and red clothes, and various charms.
Efforts to reach the Kano State Police spokesperson, Haruna Abdullahi, for further details were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered at the time of reporting.
This shocking case has raised concerns about the prevalence of ritual practices and exploitation in certain communities.
