Ribadu: A Lot of Government Weapons Are in the Hands of Terrorists and Bandits

Abuja, NigeriaMallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), has revealed that a significant number of illicit weapons circulating in Nigeria originally belonged to the Federal Government. Ribadu made this statement on Thursday during an arms destruction exercise organized by the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) at the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Abuja.

The NSA explained that corrupt elements within security agencies were responsible for allowing these weapons to end up in the hands of non-state actors, including terrorists and bandits. Ribadu strongly condemned the actions of security personnel who have facilitated the illegal distribution of arms to such groups, contributing to the nation’s security challenges.

He assured Nigerians that the government is committed to tackling the proliferation of weapons and will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the country.
