RENO OMOKRI’S REMAND ORDER VACATED; PASTOR PAUL ENENCHE’S ACTIONS CONDEMNED
As legal representatives of Mr. Reno Omokri, bestselling author and former Presidential Spokesman, we are pleased to inform the public that the remand order issued by Pastor Paul Enenche against our client has been vacated by the same court that originally granted it.
An appeal was filed on behalf of Mr. Omokri by Osa Director and Co, requesting a stay of execution of the remand order granted by the Magistrate Court. This appeal was heard at the FCT High Court, Appeal No. CRA/2/2025, where the presiding Chief Magistrate, Chief Emmanuel Iyanna, ordered the removal of Mr. Omokri’s name from the First Information Report (FIR).
However, we would like to express our grave concern regarding the actions of Pastor Paul Enenche. It is deeply troubling and unchristian for a pastor to secretly instigate a remand order at a lower court, such as a magistrate court, without even notifying Mr. Omokri. Our client only became aware of this order through a gossip blog, which raises questions about the ethics and motives behind the action.
Mr. Omokri firmly believes that his criticism of Pastor Paul and Becky Enenche, particularly their role in the Nigerian elections, is well-founded. He has consistently stated that if an Islamic imam with a large congregation had engaged in similar partisan political activities, the consequences would have been severe. Omokri criticized Pastor Enenche for using his pulpit to promote Peter Obi’s presidential campaign, which Mr. Omokri deems an improper use of ecclesiastical authority.
Furthermore, the advocacy for a specific political candidate from the pulpit, including urging church members to vote in a particular way, violates the registration restrictions of Enenche’s church, which is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission for the purpose of spreading the Gospel—not engaging in political campaigns. This action also contradicts the Electoral Act and legal precedents concerning the inappropriate use of influence by religious leaders during elections.
Additionally, Pastor Enenche’s disparaging remarks about APC Presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, including casting doubt on his personal information, were not only baseless but also divisive. Such statements, according to Mr. Omokri, disturb the peace and can potentially cause religious strife in Nigeria, a multiethnic and religiously diverse society.
On the matter of tithes, Mr. Omokri also condemned statements made by Becky Enenche regarding the concept of tithing, particularly her claim that missed tithes could “delete” previous tithes. Mr. Omokri argues that this view is not supported by Scripture and unfairly manipulates congregants for financial gain, undermining the integrity of Christianity and misleading believers.
Mr. Omokri pointed out the contradiction in urging the congregation to support a political candidate who does not even adhere to the tithing practices the Enenche family advocates for. He posed the question: if non-tithing individuals can potentially become the nation’s leaders, what does that imply for the prosperity of Nigeria?
In conclusion, Mr. Omokri calls on Nigerians to separate religious and political sentiments and to critically examine the actions of individuals who misuse religious platforms for personal or political gain. He challenges the Church to uphold its biblical principles and to refrain from allowing leaders to exploit the faith for financial and political purposes.
Mr. Omokri is prepared to meet Pastor Paul Enenche in court should he choose to pursue further legal action.
