Ile-Ife, Nigeria – First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed confidence that Nigeria’s economy will significantly improve within the next two years of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Speaking at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Thursday, the First Lady emphasized that the current administration is focused on securing a prosperous future for the country, despite the current economic challenges.
Addressing concerns about the hardship many Nigerians are facing, Mrs. Tinubu stated that her husband’s government is not responsible for the present difficulties but is working towards long-term solutions. She urged Nigerians to remain patient and believe in the reforms being implemented.
“We are just two years into this administration, and we are not the cause of the current situation. We are making efforts to fix and secure the future. With God on our side, in the next two years, Nigeria will be greater than this,” Mrs. Tinubu said, speaking in Yoruba.
She highlighted that the removal of fuel subsidies, a key policy shift of the administration, is part of a larger effort to stabilize the economy. Mrs. Tinubu reassured Nigerians that the reforms, although painful now, would lead to a stronger and more prosperous nation in the near future.
The First Lady also called on the youth to take advantage of the opportunities being created by the government and emphasized the importance of hard work, patience, and resilience during these challenging times. She added that Nigeria, like Lagos, which once faced doubts and criticism, would eventually emerge transformed and self-sufficient.
“We are satisfied already, myself and my husband, we are not greedy. We can’t disappoint Nigerians. With the help of God, we will lead Nigeria to the promised land,” Mrs. Tinubu concluded, expressing her optimism for the nation’s future.
