Refuting Misleading Claims and Affirmation of Admiral Usman Jibrin’s Candidacy

Abuja, Nigeria. August 1st, 2023 –

In response to a recent misleading claims and accusations made against Admiral Usman Jibril, the Accord Party Governorship candidate for November 2023 elections in Kogi State, it is a well known fact that Akpabana, is a patriotic Kogite and an Elder State Man with deep passion for Kogi State and her people. some unscrupulous elements are misleading the good people of Kogi State and Nigerians, therefore, we hereby clarify the allegations and state the true position of things.

In 2019, the name Admiral Usman Jibril stirred excitement and optimism among the people of Kogi State, particularly those Kogi East extraction, as they welcomed his candidacy warmly and overwhelmingly supported him massively. However, the people’s aspirations and desire to have him serve the State was dashed, hopes was lost when he was maliciously and unjustly screened out in the APC primary, which lead to his disqualification and failure to contest the governorship.

Painfully as it were, his disqualification was masterminded by a so-called Igala brother due to his ambition and promise by those in power,that he will take over the mantle of Power in 2023.

During this time, accusations of abscondment and abandonment were hurled against him by some individuals in the Igala community. Which wasn’t the true situation of things.

These accusations had necessitated Admiral Usman Jibril providing an explanation countless time. Most recently was his interview with Urah TV. He refuted the claims of abscondment and abandonment of his teaming supporters. He stated unequivocally that during 2019, he was actively involved in the political process, giving support to his people.

It is essential to note that the screening process for candidates involves adhering to rules, procedures, and specific time frames for denouncing membership in a political party before joining another one. Exigency of time and other factors was deemed not favourably expedient at the time frame. Thus ,his decision to lay low for an appropriate time.

Recently, the Admiral’s emergence as the Accord Party candidate was questioned by critics pointing to the replacement of another candidate, Mr. Jimoh Francis Ayo, with Admiral Usman Jibril, an Igala man. These allegations are unfounded and malicious because according to the law, Admiral Jibril Usman is the authentic and recognized candidate of the Accord Party. His decision to run was tactically made in consultations to relevant stakeholders across the State and beyond. Having received the buy in and blessings, he publicly declared his intense to run.

Regarding the authenticity of his candidacy, Admiral Usman Jibril has assured the public that he followed due process while decamping and obtained the ticket from the Accord Party having met all criteria specified by law. He emphasized that the necessary framework and guidelines set by INEC were strictly adhered to, ensuring that his candidacy met all legal requirements to run for November 2023 Kogi Governorship election.

Addressing concerns about his running mate, Admiral Usman Jibril, after thorough search, has selected a very suitable running mate. He assured voters that he would take this decision seriously and with utmost consideration for the future development and prosperity of Kogi State. A thorough breed with disciplined military experiences, all inclusiveness had been his watchword and practice while shopping for a running mate.

In light of the recent speculations, Admiral Usman Jibril urged the people of Kogi State, particularly those from Kogi East, Igala people, to carefully assess the facts and not be swayed by baseless claims of wicked critics who are out to spread false rumours and propaganda for political advantage.

Admiral Jibril Usman’s capabilities, proven track records, educational background, solid vision and mission, passion, among others are his salient selling point. He encouraged voters to engage with his campaign team to seek clarification on any doubts or questions they may have. Only a transplant candidate whose activities and credentials are not shrouded in chicanery would be this bold and fearless to be open.

As the 2023 General Elections approach, it is vital for the electorate to make informed decisions based on accurate information and the candidates’ policies and plans for the development of State and progress of the people.

The responsibility of electing the right leader for Kogi State lies with the people, and it is essential to uphold the principles of transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
