Prince Harry can continue his life in Montecito without fear of deportation, as President Donald Trump has ruled out taking action against the self-exiled British royal.
Harry’s US immigration status has been under scrutiny, with the conservative Heritage Foundation alleging that he may have concealed past drug use, which could have disqualified him from obtaining a US visa. The think tank has been engaged in legal battles to force the Department of Homeland Security to release his visa records.
However, Trump dismissed the possibility of expelling Harry from the country. Speaking to The New York Post on Friday, he said, “I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
Praise for Prince William
Trump, who met Prince William privately in Paris last December during the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral, took the opportunity to praise the Duke of Cambridge, calling him “a great young man.”
His comments reflect his long-standing disdain for Meghan Markle, who has previously criticized Trump as “divisive” and “misogynistic.” In response, Trump has often described Harry as being “whipped” by Meghan, remarking, “I think poor Harry is being led around by the nose.”
Heritage Foundation’s Legal Battle
The Heritage Foundation has argued that Harry may have received preferential treatment from the Biden administration when he and Meghan moved to California in 2020 following their controversial exit from the royal family, known as “Megxit.”
The think tank cited Harry’s memoir Spare, in which he admitted to using cocaine, cannabis, and psychedelics. Heritage’s Nile Gardiner told The Daily Telegraph, “Anyone who applies to the United States has to be truthful on their application, and it is not clear that is the case with Prince Harry.”
While the legal case over his visa records continues, Trump has made it clear that he has no intention of sending Harry back to the UK.
