Peter Obi Commissions Borehole In Kogi State – Photos

Ankpa, Kogi State – In a significant step towards improving access to clean water, a new borehole project was commissioned yesterday in Onaogaji Community, Ankpa Local Government Area, Kogi State. This initiative underscores a commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the goal of ensuring access to clean and potable water, which is essential for the health and well-being of the community.

The project, announced on Peter Obi’s official Facebook page, highlights his dedication to addressing basic necessities in underserved areas. Moved by the community’s lack of access to clean water, Mr. Obi donated the borehole to alleviate the issue.

“Clean water is a basic necessity that many communities in Nigeria still lack. According to the World Bank, about 70 million Nigerians do not have access to safe drinking water, and diarrheal diseases cause the deaths of at least 70,000 children under five each year,” Mr. Obi stated during the commissioning ceremony.

This new borehole is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for residents of Onaogaji, who have struggled with water scarcity. Mr. Obi emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure that more Nigerians can access this essential resource.

“Addressing this issue is imperative, and we must work together to ensure that more Nigerians can access this essential resource. Through projects like the one in Onaogaji, we are making strides towards building a new Nigeria where every citizen can enjoy basic life amenities,” he added.

The commissioning of the borehole marks a promising step towards achieving broader developmental goals and highlights the potential for positive change through dedicated community support and intervention.
