Oyo APC Group Slams Muri Ajaka Over Call for Sack of Onanuga and Ministers

Oyo State, Nigeria – The Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Professionals (APC-P) has sharply criticized Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the Kogi State Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), for his recent call for the dismissal of Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, and other ministers. The APC-P described Ajaka’s demands as self-serving and driven by personal ego.

Ajaka had recently issued a press statement calling for a significant overhaul of President Tinubu’s cabinet. He argued that removing certain ministers and replacing them with new appointees would help ease public discontent and restore confidence in the administration. Ajaka also criticized Onanuga for allegedly using social media to create adversaries for the president rather than building support, urging President Tinubu to either sack or suspend him.

In response, APC-P issued a statement on Sunday through its Chief Convener, Alhaji Adekunle Lawal, condemning Ajaka’s actions. The group described Ajaka, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, as disloyal and accused him of publicly undermining the President’s appointees and suggesting that there is widespread dissatisfaction with the Tinubu administration.

The APC-P questioned whether Ajaka, having previously betrayed the APC for the SDP, is now seeking to return to the APC and take the positions held by those who supported President Tinubu during his departure from the party. They accused Ajaka of lobbying for a ministerial appointment and suggested that his call for a cabinet shakeup was a strategic move to position himself for a role such as Minister of Information or as Onanuga’s replacement.

The APC group emphasized that the party does not operate on a principle of unrestricted entry and exit. They warned Ajaka that his departure from the APC for the SDP means his potential return would not be met with a warm reception. The group urged APC leaders in Kogi State and nationally to avoid engaging with Ajaka until he officially reconciles with the party and offers an apology for his previous defection.
