Over 40 Terrorists Attack Police Checkpoint in Zamfara, Shooting Policeman Dead

Bandits launched a deadly assault on a police checkpoint in Tazame village, Zamfara State, resulting in the death of one officer and injuries to others.

Situated less than a kilometer away from Kwatarkwashi, adjacent to Gusau, the state’s capital, the checkpoint became the scene of chaos early on Sunday, February 25, 2024, as reported by Daily Trust through multiple sources.

According to Daily Trust, the attackers, numbering over 40 and mounted on motorbikes, descended on the checkpoint around 4 am. They reportedly set fire to everything in sight after a fierce exchange of gunfire with the officers stationed there.

“The confrontation was intense for a few minutes until the bandits, having the upper hand, decimated the checkpoint and fled,” said the informant. “The remaining officers were forced to flee for their lives due to the overwhelming force of the attackers. Thankfully, some officers managed to escape, or we might have had a more tragic outcome.”
