Osogbo, Osun State – Residents of Osogbo, under the umbrella of the Osogbo Restoration Movement (OREM), have expressed their gratitude to Asiwaju Khamis Olatunde Badmus, Chairman of Tuns Group of Companies, for his philanthropic efforts in providing 200 solar-powered street lights and 10 boreholes across the Osun State capital.
The group described Badmus, who is also the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, as a true son of Osogbo and a father to all. They hailed his contributions through the Asiwaju Khamis Olatunde Badmus Foundation (AKOBF) as unprecedented in the history of the ancient town, noting that the initiatives have significantly impacted the growth and development of Osogbo and Osun State at large.
Bringing Succor to Osogbo Residents
OREM highlighted that the installation of solar street lights was aimed at addressing the long-standing issue of poor electricity supply in Osogbo, particularly during nighttime. The initiative has not only improved the quality of life for residents but has also enhanced security by reducing criminal activities in the dark.
In addition to the street lights, AKOBF provided boreholes to communities that had long struggled with access to clean, drinkable water. Beneficiary communities include Osogbo Orisunbare, Oke Oroki, Osun-Yita/Ababu, Oke-Abesu, Oke-Popo/Idi-Omon, Kajola/Arẹsà, Dispensary Oke-baale, Orisunmibare, Akepe, and Jaleoyemi/Mofowurosere, among others.
Transforming Lives and Communities
Residents of Osogbo have expressed their joy and appreciation for the projects, noting that the solar lights have significantly improved security and reduced crime rates in the area. The boreholes have also brought relief to communities that previously lacked access to clean water, addressing a critical need for many families.
“The most commendable effort of AKOBF is how the foundation provided boreholes to Osogbo Orisunbare and Oke Oroki communities, which had suffered for years without access to drinkable water. These projects have brought immense relief and improved the quality of life for our people,” OREM stated.

While acknowledging the impact of the ongoing projects, AKOBF assured other communities in Osogbo of similar gestures in the near future. The foundation reiterated its commitment to illuminating the state capital and enhancing its status as a modern and secure city.
“AKOBF is dedicated to ensuring that Osogbo is adequately illuminated and transformed into a true state capital that reflects progress and development. We will continue to work towards improving the lives of our people,” the foundation stated.
