Ogbo’s Effect: NBTE Approves 8 New Programmes, Accredits 18 Existing Ones at Kogi Poly

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has awarded full institutional accreditation to 18 programmes at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, and has also approved eight new programmes for the institution.

The rector, Salisu Usman, announced this in a statement issued by the institution’s spokesperson, Uredo Omale, on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Mr. Usman highlighted that the complete quality assurance success achieved for the 27 programmes reinforces the significant accreditation success of 2022, during which all 30 programmes submitted to NBTE received full accreditation.

The rector stated that the exercise was carried out by the board from December 18 to 20, 2024.

He emphasized that, as a result of the outcome, no program in the polytechnic was either denied or granted interim accreditation status, noting that this reflects the institution’s dedication to academic excellence and stability.

Mr. Usman detailed that of the 57 programs offered at the institution, 19 were initiated during his tenure, accounting for 33.3 percent of the total programs available at the polytechnic.

The rector praised the collaborative efforts of the institution’s principal officers, management, academic board, and staff for their commitment and support throughout the accreditation and resource inspection visitation process.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Ododo for his steadfast support and for fostering an environment conducive to the institution’s success.

Mr. Usman emphasized his dedication to transforming the polytechnic, aiming to earn the respect of other educational institutions in Nigeria and beyond.

“The programs that received approval for commencement following the resource inspection visitation include HND Civil Engineering Technology, HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option), and HND Building Technology.”

“He listed the following programs: HND Architectural Technology, HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics, ND Printing Technology, ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology, and ND Mass Communication.”
