In a bid to tackle unemployment and promote financial independence, Ali Abdullahi, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with State Code GM/24B/0136, has trained 100 women in Wuro Bando, Tumfure, on the production of liquid soap, disinfectants, and body cream.
Abdullahi, currently serving at the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Gombe, initiated the project as part of his Personal Community Development Service (CDS) to empower women with skills needed to start and manage small businesses.
Beyond production techniques, the training incorporated business development strategies to help participants monetize their skills effectively. By equipping them with entrepreneurial knowledge, the initiative seeks to provide sustainable income opportunities and address the issue of unemployment in the community.
Speaking on the impact of the program, Abdullahi emphasized the importance of skill acquisition in achieving financial stability.
“This initiative is not just about learning a trade but about creating pathways to financial stability and self-reliance,” he said.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the training has given them the confidence to venture into entrepreneurship. Many of them plan to establish small businesses using their newly acquired skills.
The project aligns with the NYSC’s mission of fostering community development, showcasing how corps members can contribute meaningfully to grassroots empowerment and national progress.
