The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has firmly stated that no foreign military bases will be allowed in Nigeria. He made this declaration during a special Christmas luncheon with troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA at Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto State.
General Musa reassured neighboring countries, including Niger, Chad, Togo, and Benin Republic, that Nigeria would not permit its territory to be used to attack any of them.
Commitment to Regional Cooperation
“In Nigeria, we would not allow anybody or any foreign base to be established in the country. We have the capacity and capability,” General Musa asserted. He emphasized that any collaboration with foreign entities would be limited to training exchanges.
He urged neighboring nations to dismiss rumors suggesting that Nigeria might host a foreign base, reaffirming the country’s commitment to regional stability and cooperation.
Intensifying Operations Against Terrorism
General Musa warned communities supporting Lakurawa terrorists to desist from such actions or face severe consequences. He pledged to intensify military operations to eliminate terrorist threats across Nigeria, ensuring the safety and freedom of all citizens.
“We want to ensure that nobody is allowed to take any Nigerian hostage wherever they are in the country,” he said.
Appreciation for Troops and Outlook for 2025
The CDS lauded the dedication and sacrifices of Nigerian troops, urging them to remain resolute in their duties. He promised continued support for their welfare and resources to bolster operational effectiveness.
“Together, we must strive to ensure that the Year 2025 is marked by transformative victories in all our operational theatres, particularly in Operation FANSAN YAMMA,” General Musa remarked.

Expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, General Musa acknowledged the Commander-in-Chief’s unwavering support for the Armed Forces and his confidence in their leadership.
Community Engagement
During his visit, General Musa commissioned projects at Yahaya Abdulkarim Model Primary School, emphasizing the importance of education and community development. He urged the school to take ownership of the completed projects and promised further interventions.
GOC Commends Troops
Major General Ibikunle Ajose, General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, commended the courage and professionalism of the troops, calling them true heroes of the nation.
The visit also featured the presentation of souvenirs to the CDS and a nostalgic visit to his former basketball site.
