Nigeria’s Tallest University Set to Open in Anambra [Photos]

Anambra: NUC examines the structures of upcoming Godwin Maduka University of Medicine

The Transatlantic Medicine and Health Science University Umuchukwu, Anambra State, is set to open soon. A distinguished team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) paid the university a visit.
According to information obtained by the Nigerian Tribune, Dr. Godwin Maduka, a philanthropist and physician living in the US, is leading the university.
The team from the NUC, headed by Mr. Chris Maiyaki, Executive Secretary, expressed pleasure with the caliber of the building that was constructed to house the medical institution.
The neighborhood gave the NUC inspection team a warm and appreciative welcome.

Mr. Maiyaki praised Maduka for taking the initiative to propose such a massive project and stated that the university regulator is prepared to provide the necessary assistance to guarantee that more chances for the development of human capital in the nation are accessible.

One of the buildings that would house the proposed institution is a 17-story edifice that is said to be the highest in the Southeast and South-South regions.

The houses for the Principal Officers—VC, Bursar, Registrar, Librarian—as well as the lecture hall, administrative offices, hostel, and other buildings—are also included in the proposed institution.

In his remarks, Maduka stated that the project has become essential due to the “japa” condition that has affected the medical field.

He guaranteed that student admissions and other academic operations will resume in September 2024, when the university would be operating at full capacity.
Pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, radiology technology, and other allied health as well as research students will be housed at the medical facility.

At the inspection tour was a team from the Project Implementation Committee as well.
