The Police have verified the detention of Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), in Benin City, located in the South-South region of Nigeria, Edo State. This action was taken by operatives from Zone 5 of the Nigeria Police Force, following a petition that accused him of assault, harassment, and unlawful possession of firearms. Abure was in Benin City to attend the LP Governorship primaries in Edo State, which were planned for Friday, February 23, in preparation for selecting the party’s candidate for the elections scheduled for September 21.
