Niger Republic Terror Group Lakurawa Kills 4 Soldiers in Sokoto

Sokoto, Nigeria – Four military personnel tragically lost their lives when troops of Operation Hadarin Daji were ambushed by terrorists in the Bachaka Kurya Forest, located in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State, near the Nigeria-Niger border.

The incident was confirmed by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, in a statement released in Abuja on Monday.

According to the statement, the ambush resulted in a fierce firefight between the troops and the terrorists, during which several terrorists were killed. The military also managed to recover weapons and ammunition from the scene.

The statement further revealed that the ambush was carried out by a terror group from Niger Republic known as Lakurawa. “The corpses of the killed terrorist reveal that it was perpetrated by a terror group from Niger Republic known as Lakurawa. Sadly, 4 of our personnel were killed in the encounter,” the statement said.

While some members of the terror group managed to escape back into Niger Republic, the military confirmed that troops are actively pursuing them with the intent to track down and eliminate the remaining terrorists.

This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, particularly near the Nigeria-Niger border, where terrorist groups continue to operate despite military efforts to neutralize them.
