Flees After Fatally Stabbing Husband in Niger State
In a tragic turn of events, the Niger State Police Command has reported the killing of Idris Ahmadu from Nasarawa village, within the Lapai Local Government Area, by his newlywed wife, Aisha Aliyu. The incident, which took place during the early hours of Monday, has left the community in shock.
DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Police Command, confirmed the details of the occurrence in Minna, revealing that Aisha Aliyu allegedly stabbed her husband and then vanished from the scene. “On 12/02/2024 (Monday), around 1200hrs, we were informed that Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village, Lapai, was stabbed to death by his wife, Aisha Aliyu, aged 19 or 20 years, at their residence. The police, upon arriving at the scene, learned that the suspect had already fled to an unknown location. Efforts are now being made to apprehend the suspect,” he stated.
The case is currently under thorough investigation by the authorities.
A local resident shared insights into the couple’s relationship, noting that the pair had a minor argument on Sunday evening but had apparently resolved their differences before retiring for the night. However, in a shocking development, the deceased’s mother was awakened by her son’s screams later that night. She, along with other villagers, discovered him bleeding profusely on the floor, with his wife, Aisha, missing from the scene.
The couple had tied the knot on December 31, 2023, following a prolonged period of courtship. It has emerged from individuals close to the situation that Aisha Aliyu had developed a relationship with another man prior to the marriage and had expressed reluctance to marry Idris Ahmadu. Despite her reservations, she was reportedly persuaded to proceed with the wedding by family members.
The community and the families involved are now grappling with the aftermath of this distressing event as police efforts to locate and arrest Aisha Aliyu continue.
