Napoli Players Upset by Special Treatment Given to Osimhen

Tensions are reportedly simmering within the Napoli squad over perceived preferential treatment towards star striker Victor Osimhen. Italian publication Corriere della Sera, through a report by CN24, has highlighted growing discontent among the Serie A champions’ players regarding the special privileges Osimhen seems to enjoy from the club’s management.

The root of the dissatisfaction appears to stem from Osimhen’s demands for a new contract, his delayed return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and his continued selection in the starting lineup despite concerns over his fitness. This situation is unfolding as Napoli finds itself struggling to match the high standards it set last season. The team, managed by Walter Mazzarri, is currently in ninth place in the Serie A standings, a significant drop from their previous campaign’s performance.

As the Partenopei prepare for a critical UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against Barcelona on Wednesday, the unrest in the dressing room over Osimhen’s treatment could pose additional challenges for the team as they aim to find their footing and salvage their season.
