Motorists traveling along the Sokoto-Gusau road have called on the government to protect them from the notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji, and his armed men who frequently attack commuters on the route.

In conversations with The Bureau Newspaper, several motorists expressed deep concerns over the persistent ambushes, which have made the road unsafe for travelers.

Speaking on behalf of the motorists, Abubakar Sanusi highlighted the alarming regularity of the attacks, stating that the suspected bandits often target travelers, especially between Mafara and Gidan Kudu.

“The bandits, suspected to be linked to Bello Turji, attack people on the road almost daily. They often block the road between Mafara and Gidan Kudu, kidnapping travellers,” Sanusi revealed.

He lamented the lack of effective action by security personnel to address the situation, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention to ensure the safety of road users.

“This constant attack is unfortunate, and it seems security personnel are not ready to act on the situation. We call on security agencies to come to our aid and ensure the road is safe for all. These attacks are becoming a daily occurrence,” he added.

The motorists urged the government and security agencies to act swiftly to restore safety on the highway and curb the incessant banditry in the area.
