Oyetola Strengthens Media Strategy for Marine and Blue Economy Ministry with Appointment of Dr. Bolaji Akinola
In a strategic move to amplify public awareness and stakeholder engagement, the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola (CON), has appointed Dr. Bolaji Akinola as his Special Adviser on Media and Communications.
Akinola, a leading figure in maritime communications and logistics strategy, brings over 20 years of experience in the marine, shipping, and transport industries. His appointment signals a renewed focus on high-impact public relations, media engagement, and stakeholder communication within one of Nigeria’s most promising economic sectors.
Currently the Chairman and CEO of Ships & Ports Communications, a leading maritime media brand, Dr. Akinola is well known for his advocacy on maritime sector reform, supply chain management, and regulatory modernization. His company has provided communication consultancy for several industry players in shipping, logistics, and transport operations.
Dr. Akinola holds a Ph.D. in Media and Communications from Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, alongside dual Master’s degrees — an MBA from Lagos Business School and a Master’s in Transport Management from LAUTECH, Ogbomoso. He is also a member of several prestigious professional bodies including:

In his new capacity, Dr. Akinola will be tasked with crafting strategic communications policies, overseeing media relations, and ensuring seamless information dissemination about the Ministry’s programmes and policies. His appointment is expected to enhance the visibility of the Ministry’s efforts to unlock Nigeria’s blue economy potential, attract foreign investment, and drive economic diversification.
Speaking on his appointment, Dr. Akinola stated:
