ABUJA, NIGERIA – The military has pulled out from the Banex shopping complex located in the Wuse 2 area of Abuja. THE WHISTLER reports that the military, which had shut down the two-building complex, withdrew approximately 30 minutes ago.
Details of the Withdrawal
According to an anonymous shop owner, there is currently an ongoing meeting between the management of the Banex shopping complex and the shop owners.
“The military men left about 30 minutes ago, and the management is currently meeting with the shop owners inside one of the compounds,” the source revealed.
Discussions and Reopening Plans
The shop owner noted that the meeting is focused on discussing the modality of resuming operations. “They (management) are discussing the modality of functioning, but at the moment, we are hopeful that the place will reopen soon. I am only waiting till the end of the meeting for more details,” the shop owner said.
Statements from the Defence Headquarters
A source at the Defence Headquarters confirmed the military’s withdrawal, stating, “We are withdrawing. Issues are being settled.” When asked if the complex would reopen for business, the source affirmed, “Yes, that’s why we are withdrawing. As I said, the issues are being ironed out.”
When further questioned on the specific reopening time, the source added, “Today.”
