Man Suffers Severe Burns While Trying To Vandalize Transformer Cables

A 22-year-old man named Tasiu Danlami sustained severe burn injuries while attempting to vandalize transformer cables belonging to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in the Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident, which occurred on October 14, 2024, was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun.

According to the statement, Tasiu and another suspect, Abba Salisu, were attempting to steal cables from the transformer in the area when the dangerous act led to Tasiu being severely electrocuted.

The police have taken swift action, launching an investigation into the case while Tasiu receives medical treatment for his injuries.

“On 10/10/2024 at about 0545hrs, Police operatives of Tafa Div with vigilante members, while on routine patrol within Hayin-Nasarawa area along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway via Tafa, arrested two suspects identified as; Tasiu Danlami 22yrs and Abba Salisu 18yrs of the same area,” the statement read.

“The two suspects attempted to vandalize AEDC transformer cables within the community, which led to severe burn injury of Tasiu.

“He was taken to Musa Yar’Adua Hospital Sabon-Wuse for treatment, while Abba was taken into custody with an industrial cutting plier.

“Suspects are under further investigation in Tafa Division.”
