Man Stabs Pregnant Wife, Sets Body Ablaze Months After Wedding

According to information gathered by The Bureau Newspaper, A 30-year-old man named Motunrayo Olaniyi has been taken into custody for allegedly stabbing his wife and setting her body on fire in their apartment at Amazing Grace Estate, located in the Elepe community of Ikorodu, Lagos

At around noon on Friday, the newlyweds were engaged in a disagreement that turned physical.

According to reports, the man blamed one of his brothers for Olajumoke’s six-month-pregnant wife’s pregnancy for his infidelity. However, she denied it prior to the tragedy on Friday. The Bureau Newspapers was informed by neighbors that he had previously assaulted her while her mother was present.

A neighbor who requested anonymity stated: When Jumoke was three months pregnant, they got married the traditional way three months ago. Then, all of a sudden, difficulties began.

He was claiming that his wife was promiscuous. He stated that her pregnancy was not his but rather that of his younger brother.

“Earlier in the week, he attacked Jumoke in front of her visiting mother. Because they believed he was possessed and required deliverance, Jumoke’s mother took him to the church for prayers of deliverance.

“After Jumoke’s mother left, this second attack occurred.”

SP Benjamin, a Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police, confirmed the arrest and provided the following explanation: On Friday, October 4, the Ikorodu division received a distress call reporting an alleged domestic dispute between Olaniyi and his 25-year-old wife, Olajumoke.

While inflicting wounds on himself, the husband stabbed the wife to death, locked her in the room, and set it ablaze.

According to the report, a team of detectives went to the place where the fire was put out and found the wife’s lifeless body on the floor with wounds to her abdomen.

“With injuries, the husband was rescued, taken to a nearby hospital, treated, and released, and taken into police custody.

“During interrogation, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect stabbed himself and his wife during an argument.

While this is going on, the body has been taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.
