Man Hit By Car While Escaping With Woman’s Foodstuffs In FCT

A 36-year-old man, known as Jamilu, faced an unfortunate accident on Tuesday when he was hit by a car while trying to flee with a woman’s groceries at Kwali market in the Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

The incident unfolded around 11 am when Jamilu offered to help the woman transport her purchases to a nearby vehicle, under the guise of assistance.

The victim, Mrs. Patience Raphael, had completed her shopping, acquiring various food items like rice, beans, garri, yam, and more, which she packed in a sack.

A bystander, Ibrahim Audu, recounted that he was in the process of summoning a cart pusher for Mrs. Raphael when Jamilu volunteered to carry the sack to the roadside instead.

According to Audu, “I was actually calling for a wheelbarrow pusher to transport the woman’s groceries when this man stepped in to help. However, his true intent was to abscond with the goods, and in his haste to cross the road, he was struck by a car.”

Jamilu, who suffered various injuries including bruises and a fracture, was subsequently transported to the hospital by local vigilantes.

This incident mirrors a similar event reported by City & Crime last week, where a cart pusher made off with a woman’s bag of rice and other foodstuffs at the same market.
