Authorities are searching for a young man identified as Samuel Njoroge, who is suspected of murdering Naomi Chebet, a mother of three, in her rented apartment under mysterious circumstances.
Naomi’s lifeless body was discovered on Sunday morning by her brother, Harrison, who found her covered with a blanket on the couch, showing disturbing injuries that suggested a brutal attack.
According to Harrison, a neighbor saw Naomi entering the house with Samuel around 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 22. However, about an hour and a half later, at 10:30 p.m., the same neighbor reportedly saw Samuel leaving the house wearing a mask.
Samuel later posted chilling messages on social media, seemingly confessing to the crime. In one message, he wrote in Swahili, “Mm nilimuuwa coz ya upuzi, mbona anijibu?”—which translates to, “I killed her because of nonsense, why isn’t she answering me?” Another post read, “Wewe kufa uniodokee malaya wewe,” meaning, “Die and leave me alone, you prostitute.”
Naomi and Samuel had been in a relationship but had separated before reuniting in early March. While those around them believed they had reconciled peacefully, the tragic turn of events suggests otherwise.
As of the time of this report, Samuel remains at large, while Naomi’s grieving family is demanding justice. The police have urged the public to provide any information that could lead to his arrest.
