Tinubu Meets Lagos Speaker Obasa, Lawmakers Amid Assembly Crisis
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a crucial meeting with Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, and other lawmakers from the state.
The lawmakers arrived at the Presidential Villa in a Coaster bus at about 2:00 pm on Wednesday, where they were swiftly ushered into the President’s office complex by security officials.
Interestingly, Mojisola Meranda, who was recently elected Speaker following the Assembly’s leadership crisis, arrived with the delegation. However, Obasa arrived separately at about 3:00 pm, further fueling speculations of internal divisions within the state legislature.
While details of the meeting remain undisclosed, political observers believe it could be linked to the recent N2 billion vehicle procurement controversy and the power struggle within the Lagos State House of Assembly.
This meeting comes at a time when Obasa is making a comeback after his brief removal, allegedly orchestrated by APC power brokers.
With both Obasa and Meranda in attendance, all eyes are on Aso Rock to see if Tinubu will step in to broker peace or consolidate power in Lagos politics.
