The Delta State Police Command has expressed condolences to the family of 23-year-old Precious Yusuf, whose body was discovered on DLA Road, opposite Falcon Club in Asaba, on October 24.
According to SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, the distressing discovery was made after a call was received by CSP Rex Abiodun, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of ‘A’ Division Asaba, at approximately 8:40 AM. The DPO promptly mobilized a team of police operatives to the scene, where they found the young woman’s remains.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on October 22, Precious had informed a friend that she was going to meet a male acquaintance she had met on the iHappy dating website. She left her residence that day to visit him in Coka. On October 23, at around 7:30 AM, she contacted her friend, indicating she was on her way home. This call marked the last communication she had before her body was found the following day.
Edafe noted that her corpse has been taken to the mortuary, pending autopsy results.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, reassured the public and the deceased’s family that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is underway, emphasizing the commitment to delivering justice.
The Commissioner also advised young women to be vigilant about their associations and to exercise caution when engaging with individuals met through dating websites and social media platforms.
