The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) has officially endorsed its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to fly the party’s flag again in the 2027 general election.
The party also threw its weight behind the re-election bid of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, and reaffirmed its support for Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour as the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State.
Labour Party Confident of Victory in 2027
Speaking on behalf of the party, National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, declared that the Labour Party is fully committed to unseating President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 through democratic means.
Arabambi stated that many Nigerians, especially the youth, are disillusioned with Tinubu’s policies, which he claimed are unfavorable to the masses.
“Our major focus is getting the APC out of office only through the ballot box if Nigerians so desire, and not through illegitimate means,” he said.
Reaffirming Obi’s candidacy, Arabambi stated:
“Peter Obi would once again represent the LP in the 2027 presidential race. We are united in our resolve to bring about a better Nigeria under his leadership.”
Support for Otti and Rhodes-Vivour
The party also reiterated its backing for Governor Alex Otti’s second term bid in Abia State and announced that Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour would remain its governorship candidate in Lagos for the next election cycle.
The endorsement signals the Labour Party’s early preparation for the 2027 elections, as it seeks to consolidate its influence and challenge the ruling APC at the national level
