Kogi Allocates N50 Million for 26 Computers for Legislators, Ignoring Widespread Unemployment

The anticipated cost of renovating the speaker and deputy speaker’s residence is N50 million. This is true even though N58.7 million was allocated for the same in 2024.

According to an analysis of the Kogi State 2025 projected budget, N12 million has been set aside for the construction of overhead tanks in the homes of members of the House of Assembly.

A budget description for “building overhead tanks to each of the twenty-five honorable members’ houses” was included in the document. However, N12 million was set aside specifically for this use.

Other amounts allocated in the text include, for example, N50 million for the upkeep of the generating set at the Assembly complex, honorable speakers’ lodge, and legislative quarters.

An additional N20 million was been out for the assembly cafeteria’s construction and furnishings.

Additionally, N50 million was allocated for the provision of 26 computers to the clerk and other honorable members.

It is anticipated that N75 million will be needed to renovate the Assembly’s offices and chambers.

Another budget item, valued at N110.251 million, was referred to as “construction of committee room for honorable member.”

Twenty pieces of firefighting equipment will be purchased with a total budget of N50 million.
