Kidnappings: I Am Very Concerned About Nigeria – Pope Francis

Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church, has voiced deep concerns over the disturbing frequency of abductions in Nigeria, highlighting the grave situation.

In a post via X (Twitter) on Sunday, February 26, 2024, Pope Francis noted that he was praying and hoping that efforts would be made to contain these incidents.

“The increasingly frequent kidnappings in Nigeria are extremely concerning,” he said.

“I express my closeness in prayer to the Nigerian people, hoping that efforts will be made to contain the spread of these incidents as much as possible.”

This increase in concern from the Pope aligns with the recent surge in abduction incidents for ransom across various regions of Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where kidnappers are increasingly targeting estates and border communities.
