In a remarkable turn of events, five suspected kidnappers were arrested after their victims managed to escape when the captors fell asleep due to the effects of hard drugs. The incident, which involved the abduction of a pastor’s wife and two other individuals, occurred in the jurisdiction of the Ofosu Division police.
The victims, who were kidnapped at different locations including a church and a farm, seized the opportunity to escape while their abductors were incapacitated. According to police reports, the kidnappers had consumed hard drugs that rendered them unconscious, allowing the victims to flee to safety.
The suspects, identified as Garuba Mumuni (27), Yusuf Tale (21), Kabiru Muhammed (16), Shaibu Umar, and Adamu Mohammed (22), were subsequently arrested following the victims’ escape. It was noted that the victims were able to positively identify one of the suspects, leading to the arrest of the entire group.
A police spokesperson detailed the sequence of events, explaining that the arrest was facilitated by intelligence gathered after the victims reported their ordeal. The suspects are currently being held by the Ofosu Division, and further investigations are underway to apprehend the remaining member of the gang.
