ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION OF MOTORISTS ON EJULE-OCHADAMU ROAD FOILED
The Kogi State Government alerts the general public to a foiled attempt by criminal elements to abduct motorists traveling along the Ejule-Ochadamu Road on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
The incident occurred at Ofejiji, Ochadamu, Ofu Local Government Area, shortly after the convoy of His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, passed through the route.
The criminals had targeted an 18-seater BD Express Bus transporting passengers from Otukpo, Benue State, to Lagos. However, swift intervention by security personnel in the backup van of the Deputy Governor’s convoy thwarted their plans.
Upon receiving the alert, the Nigerian Army, the Police, and local vigilante groups were immediately mobilized at the directive of the Deputy Governor to pursue and apprehend the suspects.
Government’s Commitment to Security
Reacting to the incident, Deputy Governor Joel Salifu expressed concern over the recurring attempts at kidnapping along the axis and has ordered the establishment of a permanent security checkpoint in the area.
He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo-led administration to eradicating criminal activities and ensuring that Kogi residents can sleep with their two eyes closed.
Call for Community Vigilance
The Deputy Governor urged the youth in Ejule, Ochadamu, and neighboring communities to shun crime and report suspicious activities or unfamiliar individuals in their environment. He emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and warned those engaging in criminal acts to desist immediately or face the full force of the law.
