In a statement released on Tuesday, Maj Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, claimed that on Monday, during a counterinsurgency operation in Katsina State’s Kurfi and Safana Local Government Areas, the forces shot and killed Maikusa and three other terrorists.

Nwachukwu claims that the fierce operation was also successful in eliminating the militants’ strongholds in the region.

The violent radicals fiercely resisted the forces during the operation, but they valiantly defeated them with superior firepower, neutralizing some of the terrorists while others ran away in confusion.

The soldiers found two AK-47 weapons, three magazines, 65 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, a locally made gun, and a camouflage clothing after the gunfight.

As part of the ongoing clearance efforts, the forces demolished terrorist camps located in the Kurfi Local Government Area’s Wurma, Shaiskawa, Yauni, and Dogon Marke villages, as well as the Safana Local Government Area’s Ummadau and Zakka villages.

“To ensure safety and security in the region, the troops have persisted in maintaining an aggressive posture in the general area to clear out the remnants of the terrorist cell,” an army spokesperson stated.
